About

Asheville Doula Carrie Ragsdale

Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula servicing The Triangle

I've always valued deep and personal connections, so it's no surprise that I’ve found doula work so compelling. My journey to becoming a doula began with a desire for a more holistic and relationship-driven career, which led me to complete my 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2020. As my personal practice and teaching progressed, I realized the disconnection to body that so many people experience, particularly in women from their womb space. As a woman in her own child-bearing years, this realization opened my eyes to how little I knew about my personal womb as well. The rest is history- I then embarked on an ongoing journey of deepening my education and quickly realized the power of support throughout the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods. I soon realized I could use my yoga training alongside doula practices to empower women to connect mind and body during this transformative stage of life. I received my doula training through DONA International as well as my prenatal yoga training in the beginning of 2023, and have been hooked ever since.

I strongly believe in uniting birthing person, birth partner, baby, and doula as one cohesive unit to nurture the desired experience. No matter how you envision your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey, I promise to stand by your side and provide the emotional, physical and educational support you need.

My Approach

My motto is ‘meeting you where you are’. I focus on building an honest, genuine relationship with my clients so they feel comfortable sharing whatever is on their mind. We’ll work together to uncover any fears, frustrations, or problem areas and develop a plan from there. My job is to provide solid support, whether it's lending a listening ear during those late-night worry sessions or sharing practical insights to navigate the ups and downs of pregnancy and labor.

I’m also here to educate, so expect me to arm you and your partner with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions and feel more confident about the journey ahead.

Let's face it, pregnancy isn't always rainbows and butterflies, but with a little bit of humor and a whole lot of heart, we'll tackle it together, one contraction at a time.

Our Journey Together

We’ll talk, a lot. I’ll get up to speed on your pregnancy or postpartum journey and we’ll go in depth with how you’re feeling and what you need. You can ask all the scary questions and start to gain knowledge.

We’ll prepare and plan as much as you’d like. We’ll discover your birth preferences and build a plan we can share with your labor team. We’ll also involve your partner so they feel confident in assisting.

We can move. As a prenatal yoga instructor, I’m able to guide you through trimester-specific movements to relieve stress, tension, and pain, ensuring your body, mind and spirit are prepared for labor.

We’ll put the plan into place. I’ll be there for the entirety of your active labor, whether it’s at home, the hospital, or a birthing center. I’ll provide support during labor and keep your preferences top of mind for your medical team.

We’ll settle in. After labor, I’m available to help you get familiar with your new addition and answer all the questions regarding newborn care. I’ll also be looking out for YOU and providing tips for self care and recovery.
